I had some silver frames from my DIY chopstick paintings and I got some mats cut with an 8x8 opening. I shifted the opening in the mat up, so its not centered. Gives a much more custom framed look.
Super easy DIY and aren't the agates gorgeous? Looking for a Mother's Day gift anyone?
The coasters are slightly raised to allow them to sit up off the table and I used the raised surface to super glue them on the mat. Framed it looks gorgeous because it allows light to shine through them and they don't look so flat.
See how pushing the mat off center gives it a more custom look? They are such a fun addition to my bar area and make me happy every time I walk in my front door :-)

ReplyDeleteErica from Moth Design has these in her home and I bought a shadow box and agate to do the same! I just need to get a strong enough glue and find a place to put it. Love the way you did the custom matting on yours!
