You
know we've been working like crazy on the house since we moved in a
month and a half ago and I'm finally feeling like its liveable.
I was hesitant about showing the pictures before its completed because I've always thought I had to have at room done before the post. But this post by Jenny reminded me of the truth that in blogging we can share not just the result but the progress. That's what makes blogging different. So my goal in this house renovation is to let you into my head more, share why I'm doing what and not being afraid of progress pictures. What do you think? Are you ok with progress, not the finalized product?
Here's the before: taken the day we moved in:
Our dining room goes into our living room which has a sweet little fireplace, but it was in such bad shape with the plaster crumbling off the walls and the popcorn ceiling. That light fixture came down first day, for reals.
So we taped off the front two rooms completely from the rest of the house and got to work. We put up new drywall over all the old plaster and ceiling, sanded, primed and painted every surface.
So here is where we are now, no rugs (not until little miss puppy is potty trained) no drapes or artwork but fresh.
I knew I wanted all white walls, white with warmth but not grey. Color without color if that makes sense. Nan, my boss, is the most talented person I've ever met with paint. Everything she picks hits the nail on the head, so needless to say, she picks every color in my house. My favorite part is we painted the walls and ceiling in high gloss. Its GORGEOUS. New massive crown molding and trim around the windows still needs to be installed but I'm SO happy with the results.

yes, the process is always our favorite part on another blog but the hardest to show on our own right? Well, I love what you've shown so far. And that dining room may be sparse but it's already perfection. Love the wood farm table with those white mod chairs. And the plant in the corner. I am absolutely going to buy a potted plant after we move. It's must!
ReplyDeleteI love the crisp white look- and the high gloss was such a good move! I just went with the color without color look in my kitchen. Out of curiosity- what white did you use?
ReplyDeleteLove the light you get, and the dinning is already looking great, I love wood tables with white chairs, we used to have that combo ;)

So much potential!
ReplyDeleteI like when bloggers show the progress, it helps to tell the story so well. Looking forward to seeing what you do with the space!
Isn’t That Charming.
Wow, I think the "before" looked pretty good but the "after" is even more amazing! I love the contrast between your gorgeous floors and white furnishings.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see more!
I love seeing the progress. looks so beautiful, my dear
ReplyDeleteFrom the comments above, I see I'm not the only one who likes to see the progress of projects! The fireplace is adorable, can't wait to see how it will turn out!
ReplyDeleteyour hard work paid off! and where did you get those chairs? i'm in love with those chairs and am looking where to buy them.
ReplyDeletei definitely think that doing before and after photos is such a great way to show the progress and the result. without showing the before images, we wouldn't have known the difference or have anything to compare it with.
